Job Description

An IT Consultant is a technical specialist who works with clients across all kinds of businesses and industries. The consultant primarily provides advice on incorporating or integrating information technology systems to increase commercial efficiency and improve processes, service delivery, customer relationships, capital expenditure and above all, profitability and shareholder value.

IT consultants work as a bridge between users and the technical team, understanding both client requirements, and business investments and expected Return on Investment (ROI). They prepare specifications on I.T. infrastructure and facilitate and monitor system implementation, completing the necessary documentation and supervising clients through the full technology life cycle.

  • Analysing IT requirements within companies and giving independent and objective advice on the use of IT;
  • Developing agreed solutions and implementing new systems;
  • Presenting solutions in written or oral reports;
  • Helping clients with change-management activities;
  • Purchasing systems where appropriate;
  • Designing, testing, installing and monitoring new systems;
  • Preparing documentation and presenting progress reports to customers;
  • Organising training for users and other consultants;
