Job Duties

The chef is the “commander” in a food industry, a restaurant, or even in a simple kitchen. A chef’s duty can differ depending on the size and type of company he works for. The title of chef can only be given to a person who has obtained the essential skills and knowledge from a culinary school. A person must certainly not confuse a cook with a chef because a chef had a professional training from a culinary school. A chef has been educated to prepare food of all kinds or types. Not only that he could cook food well, he can also serve up the food with style and art. He can embellish his food to amplify the food’s tastiness. The chef is educated of the best ways on how to prepare certain dishes and the best spices to put on them. A chef can specialize in preparing certain dishes such as vegetable, meat, or fish dishes. Chefs can work together in a single establishment wherein one chef can prepare a food based on his specialization. Normally, a smaller establishment would need only one or two chefs but a bigger establishment may require additional chefs.
